Possible Scammer???

I received two emails from a Jessica Levine, one from a yahoo account and one from hotmail that seem to be less than legit. This person has broken English, the emails read exactly the same except for the item they are asking about that I have for sale and they want my name, address, phone, to pay by cashiers check and insist on me writing back using my "private" email address.

I replied to the first inquiry answering their questions and did not get a reply. Instead I got a second request on a different item I have for sale that reads exactly the same, but from hotmail instead of yahoo.

Anyway, thought I'd post this in case others are getting similar inquiries because I suspect this is not a legitimate request or intent to purchase parts for sale. I've received numerous replies from ads on RacingJunk as well from other parties and have read about nightmares involving these types of scams. I could be wrong.

I get about 5 of these a day. If you want you can string them along to waste their time. Lots of times they are even willing to pay OVER the asking price for "The item" You can also tell them it will take 3-4 weeks for the fake cashiers check or money order to clear. Chances are you wont hear back from them. If you do string them along far enough to actually get a fake payment dont bother cashing it because your bank will charge you when it bounces.

I can see the price rising on that 36 chevy truck.

Scam!!! I had one almost identical to that about a gas pump I am selling. The guy wanted to buy it immediately. The first e-mail sounded legit, the second e-mail had broken English. The third e-mail....well here is the part about the cashiers check or money order made out for more than what I was asking and to just give the remainder of the money to the truck driver when he picks up the merchandise.

The email I got from jessicalevine24@hotmail.com today stated that I could use my own shipping company, and the cost would be added to the money order. It needs to be shipped to the United Kingdom, and their own trucking company will pick up the merchandise (36 Chevy Truck in this case) right after the money order was signed for.

Do they think we all are fools? :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:

I used to get flooded with credit card offers & started filling in the offers with the Info above and mailing them in. What's even funnier, I saw a show last year about Identity Theft and someone had been using credit cards with the exact Herman Munster Info. I wondered if the Card Co.'s had actually been mailing the crap I sent in out?

What I usually do is write them back and encourage them to take up another line of work, such as playing in traffic and stealing hub caps. I like the herman munster idea. Maybe I`ll sign some up as Granpa munster.

As amazing as it is, people do fall for this all the time. If they didnt, it would not even be an issue. It only takes one in one hundred to take the bait for it to be worth it for the scammers. If you think about it, they have no cost at all and when they get a fish, they get merchandise and money.
