If I may temporarily hi-jack my own thread, here is a new kid on the block that recently signed with Curb Records and is a protege of "Whispering" Bill Anderson, one of the most prolific COUNTRY MUSIC song writers in Nashville. It's kids like this that will keep it going if it lasts.

Let's see...

My dog won't start, and my pickup ran away from home.
My wife needs a new roof and the house is having an affair with the mailman.
(Have I got that all right?)

Sorry, but "country music" is a contradiction in terms, like a cherry tart.

And I do recognize Mr Jones as being one of the best, along with Tommy Hunter, etc

To each his own, Dave. You must be drinking from the same creek that Ogre is (post #7) but you have to admit that other genres do the same thing but not always. I like all genres but, Lord knows, that Rock and Roll has charted some real doozies. Same with Country Music, but there are some that tell it just like it is. Click here and tell me where the "contradiction" is.

George Jones - He Stopped Loving Her Today | Country Music Lyrics & Guitar Chords, Cowpie | Roughstock.com

P.S. my Mom used to singing one when I was a youngin that went "I'm lying on my back crying my ears fulla tears over you" hahahahaha

Is that the one that went:

"I've got tears in my ears
From lyin' on my back,
In my bed
While I cry over you"....

Yes, did your Mom sing that one to you also?

My first Wife used to call it "Hill William Music"

No my mom did not sing that to me.

Wasn't it originally a duet by Homer Simpson & Jethro Clampett?

I once won a contest at a pub for coming up with the most rude, crude and bawdy "alternate lyrics" for it.

yeah, Dave, I was pulling your leg a little there about your Mom singing it to you. Don't know if Homer and Jethro did that one or not but it's definitely their style. I used to sing one called, "I missed her when she left me but my aim was off that night" !

I know there aren't many Country Music Fans here but for those that are I wanted to let you know that RFDTV Network will be broadcasting George Jone's Memorial Service from the Grand Ol Opry on Thursday Morning at 10:00am CST/11:00am EST

(please check your local listings because that could be different than what I'm understanding)
