I hear you, I thought the same thing (sorry Randy). If you set the standard with that spectacular shot of the pickup on the dry lake bed, anything anyone could put up pales in comparison.
No kidding, that is the best. I have a few Robert "Bondo Bob" Williams posters in my home and garage that came to mind after seeing Blackies post. But I can't find them anywhere on the net to get a good photo. Sorry about my lame photo of my minivan on the salt flats. My uncles were roadster and midget racers back in the thirties. I have some great photos of their cars on the track, I'll have to get them on here.Brian |

Hey Brian, nothing wrong at all with your minivan. The panoramic view of the salt flats make up for it

I have to tell you, that photo of mine after scanning is such poor quality you just can't get a feel. Of course, there is no way you can get a feel at all without standing out on that salt. Out there in the middle you are MILES and MILES from dirt. It is blinding white, not a speck of color, not a blade a grass, NOTHING but white for MILES. It is truely an amazing place. I first drove out there the summer before last on a trip out to Arkasas. But this past summer we were on our way back from South Dakota (we also saw your beautiful Victoria on Vancover island) and I just had to take the detour out onto the salt again, it is hypnotic. Off I80 you drive out on a road that is on a levy for a few miles with salt on both sides. At the end of this road it is simply a court, it ends with a turn around at the end. Right there is a sign stating it is the Bonniville speedway and some history notes. At that point you can just leave the road and drive out on the salt! It is pretty rough without the grooming they do for the speedweek trials. About 60 was as fast as I dare go in my Windstar afraid it would shake apart.
Honestly, it is a sight to see. Brian |

Nice shots guys.
And smooth Jon, nice way to treat one this boards most talented members. I love this picture, it was just luck that the car ended up centered well.
