I haven't done this just for the reason you mentioned. But the manifold is this chinese piece I got from Pro Comp. It was cheap so I'm not worried if I screw it up. The thing was bad when I opened the box. None of the ports matched so I port matched everything, cleaned up the runners and plenum too, poor casting. On one port I had to epoxy fill because the opening was too high and was to far into the gasket for my liking. It looks much better now and then I wondered about powder coating the inside.

by the time you pay to have it powder coated, you could have bought an edelbrock air gap
