I am looking for a vendor for power door locks for a 61 Chevy 1/2 ton. Anyone know where they may be found?

Stay far away from JC Whitney, you get what you pay for IMHO. You don't want to be pulling door panels off when those el cheapo solenoids fail. AutoLoc makes a very high quality kit.

it actully is Autoloc stuff that JC Whitney sells for that price. I guess it could be just simple operation, that makes it cheap like that. IDK.. personally, my Rambler doesn't even lock.. the tumblers in the doors are siezed

If you are looking for power door locks, (where you lock/unlock the latch), Dakota Digital sells a kit. Use the CMD4000 and a pair of PDR-1 lockmotors.

The remote kit is about 130.00 and the lockmotors are 35.00 each

If you want to have a door latch solenoid,(disengages the latch), you will need some solenoids from unkl als, or autoloc. Unkl Al was the first one to use the toyota starter solenoid that everyone is using these days.

Dakota digital sells a solenoid, but it is only rated for 35#

Autoloc has a wide range of products, but it all comes from overseas. It all works OK, the prices are ok.

JC whitney stuff will frustrate you in your efforts in installation as well as not perform very well.

I will say that I haven't used their stuff for years, never had a good experience with it. If it is now made by Autoloc, then it's probably OK.

Later, mikey
