power glide or T-400?

i'm building a street strip car, its a 72 elcamino it has a th400 in it, is was put in car came from factory with a th350. the trans was rebuilt or built a few years back. i bought the car from a friend. we are unsure whats in the transmission. the guy who built it said their was kevlar bands. i'm not sure if i want to rebuild the th400 or put in a powerglide. i want to use a transbrake, and i need it to hold at least 900hp. i also want to drive it on the street and ive heard the powerglide isnt very street able. im guna use a 3600 rpm stall.

with the weight of the car , I would use the t-400.

kevlar bands means nothing... the t-400 uses clutch packs to transfer power.

what can the stock input shaft and main shaft handle on a th400? parts are cheaper for a powerglide than a th 400. i hear everyone talking about how good a powerglide is and all the racers run one. i need it to handle 900hp.

My comment on car weight and use of the t-400 has nothing to do with strength of the trans.

The lower first gear of the t-400 and the 3 speeds will help the car accelerate better in my opinion.

The company I work builds glides for the area of 3,000 hp , they will work well with a big motor.

if you want a glide , get one built. Maybe a 1.80 gear set would work well for your application.

Is theis 900 hp motor ALL motor or is there NOS involved?
