New project, '60 El Camino. I re-wired the ignition and installed an HEI with alternator.
"s" from starter to "s" on ignition switch. Batt from starter to + Amp,then - Amp to Batt to starter switch and center post on altinator. #2 wire to center post on alt. Alt #1 to resistor, then to "ign" ignition switch. HEI connected to
"ign" ignition switch. Here's the problem.
It starts and runs but when I turn the key off, it remains running. I checked the power wire to HEI which is hot when key is on, dead when I turn key off. This wire is connected to the "ign" on key switch. Here's where it puzzles me, when the car is running, I physically disconnected this ign wire from the distributor, it does what it's suppose to ..the car dies out. . Short of installing a toggle switch to the HEI to cut it out, what are your recommendations?
