Power Hood Opener?? How? Help..
Hey yall I was watching horse power tv a few weeks back when they were at a car show. Some guy had a phat ride and what really caught my eye was he dident even have to get out of his car to open anything he opened trunk doors and hood with buttons inside of the car. I know about shaved door handles and trunk kit things, but how did he open the hood? Im trying to find out how I can make my own power hood. Would I get a linear actuator or something? Can someone that has done this before please gimmie info.

hey chris.. linear actuator sounds most likely.. But you'll prolly have to fabricate some mounts and be sure you get the length right and get an actuator that can handle the weight of the hood.. also don't forget that you'll prolly be pivoting on a small point wich will make it seem like more weight then the hood actually weighs.. so be sure to probably get actuators rated around 1.5 to 2 times the weight of the hood. No prob.. Heck sounds like a fun project I might have to try some time when everything else is done.. If you go through with it then let me know how it turns out..

Check out www.power-hood.com they make a power operated hood opener for the Big Rigs also do custom operations
