power loss

about how much power loss can i expect to see when using a 700r4 trans? It is the 650hp monster ss trans. I also have 4:10 gears. My engine is about 500 hp so im hoping to at least have 450 to the rear wheels. With a better built tranny for more power like mine, wont i lose less hp?

Tranny built to handle more power doesn't make it use less power. To use less power you have to make internal parts lighter(like aluminum billet drums) and reduce friction by replacing thrust washers with torrington bearings(which requires machining)and replace bushings with roller bearings(more machining).

Your trans will use just as much power as a stock one if these things weren't done(and they are expensive) and might use slightly more than stock if they upgraded to a higher output front pump.

You will get some small gain from a smaller diameter torque converter(less rotating weight)but is isn't a bunch, likely just enough to offset the bigger pump loss so you break even there.

Figure you are going to loose 75-100 hp thru the total driveline depending on rear axle size/type and wheel/tire weight.
