Power seat questions

I wasat pic-a-part yesterday when I bought the front leather seats from a car that had just arrived. It was a 2007 Mercury Marque.

I have the seats home & have been busy examining them & I count 4 motors that power the seats! There is one motor for fore & aft mode, one motor to raise the front, one motor to raise the rear.

Any have a guess what the other motor is fore?

I am clueless & not used to cars with electric seats!

Thanks!

Thanks, I found the answer!

I looked up a road test for this car and found photos for the power seat controls;

1. seat forward & back.
2. seat rear raises & lowers.
3. seat front raises & lowers.
4. seat travels forward & back.

I also discovered that thee is a sensor that determines if someone is sitting in the passenger seat. This is for passenger airbag deployment.

Thanks!

No Heat?

What ...no heat function in the seats? I have seats out of a Lexus with most of what you have plus heat. When I found and ordered the car's wiring diagram, it shows 3 circuits and 3 different fuse sizes just for the seat!

Suggest you find the wiring diagram or this car to help you wire it up with the proper fuses....unless you brought the circuit with fuses with the seats?

Steve

Hi,i suggest that you go back to the boneyard and get the wiring harness and fuzes for those seats. they would be a very good start (along with a wiring diagram)

Plugs

The seats have two plugs that I can see.

Plug #1 has the wires from the seat motors.

Plug #2 has a bunch of wires that go to a small metal module mounted on the seat bottom.

What the heck is that module for anyways?

Would these seats have electric heat?

Heat in the seat!

Are they leather? If so it's very possible. I'm not aware of heat in any other kind of material cover seats. The controls for the heat in the seats would likely be on a console or front panel.

So you may need to go back to get more parts? Look near where those seats were mounted for additional electrical components such as relays?

Indeed!

Yes, they are leather. I am wondering where in God's green earth I will find the relays. I guess I am going to have to pull off the controls located in the doors as well. They are pretty cool looking buttons.

Check to see if there are more than two wires to each motor. If so the module could be the memory module for setting the position automatically for two different drivers.

Charles

The fourth motor could also be for a power recline option

Mine (2001 explorer leather buckets) has two wire hookups.

The lumbar is a knob on the side of the seat in mine.

One set of wires is for the motor controls (4 motors as well). The other wires in mine are for the side impact airbag. If it has those (on all the ones I have seen anyway) it should say airbag somewhere on the side of the seat up towards the top or around the corner on the back side.

The majority do not have heat in them (at least in the south). That was an option that could be ordered though. Up where you are...that is a possibility.

My boss's wife has an 01 Lincoln that has the air bag thing as well. It says it on the seat. I have no clue about her wiring though.

I would look for the airbag stuff first. Do not want to pop one of those by wiring it up incorrectly. Not only is it messy, but it ruins the upholstery on the seat.
