Power seats
Bench testing 2006 Envoy front power seats prior to installation in cruiser. Passenger seat works fine when "wired" to temp power source via the 12 ga. orange and black leads. The Driver's seat does not work with same wiring. Is there any jumper or special "safety" needed to be wired prior to seat working? All I want is basic forward/back, tilt etc. Any advice?

I think this is more of an electrical question than an interior fabrication question.

Yes, let's move this to the Electrical forum. You'll get better answers there.

pnt4u2,
You didn't mention if your seats have the memory function but from how you describe the situation I'd suspect that's what's up. I had a similar situation when I bought a set of 2006 Porsche 911 seats. The issue on the driver seat was that it had a memory function so you could preset seat positions for up to three different drivers. I found a plastic box with a circuit board panel mounted under the drivers seat. What I figured out was that this box communicated with a body control module which I of course didn't have, or want! I got lucky though. I took the seat to the local Porsche shop where I found a guy who was into hot rods. He took the time to pull out the wiring diagram and sort out how to jumper around the circuit board so the seat worked like the pass side. Hope this helps. Good Luck |

The attached drawing shows a typical power seat wiring schematic.
Notice the three motors are powered to rotate forward or reverse depending on the desired function. The relays simply reverse the electrical polarity to reverse the motor. The drawing shows a pair of relays for each motor controlled by single pole double throw center off momentary (SPDT) switch. Switches can be used in place of the relays but need to be rated at least 15 amps and they would be double pole double throw center off momentary (DPDT). vicrod |

Thanks for the redirect to Electrical. I will do better in the future. Thanks for the advice on controls. Both seats have "little black boxes" under them. I will try to locate schematic to wire a jumper. Keep on posting!
