PS for an old ford

When I was fixing cars, years back, we could add power steering to an old for by using a power assist kit. It was a bolt on application. It consisted of a piston bolted to the frame at one end, to the drag link at the other, and 2 hoses going to the power steering pump that came with the kit. Only mechanics 40 and over are going to remember these, as I only remember them being on and installed onto cars from the 60's. It was a worthy set-up that did the job well. I bet that a parts house like Dallas Mustang will have something like this, or will know where to get one. btw, I'm not affiliated with them, I just know about them. Good luck.

Power Steering

TechNtool,
Thanks for the info! I'm really hoping I can find a steering box that will work in my car because my old box has bad bearings in it. I found where some oeople hafd used modified 605 Chevy boxes in similar cars but they were having problems. Thanks again for the info.

Power steering

Grandpaw,
I saw your problems. Was about to call them about a box when I found this website. Glad I found it. I was going to order the rack from Dearborne Classics about a month ago, but the guy said they did not know at that time when they would have them. My car is down to the snout for paint. Good time to do it. May have to wait on Wurth until his wife gets ok. Probably would not be a bad add on later. My 460 has been built for over a year, sure would like to hear it run. Thanks for your reply. Good things come to those who wait. I restore boats , and have the patients of Jobe.
Thanks, Doc
