power steering box replacement
I have a 71 z28 that seams to over steer with very little road feel that is aslo currently leaking. I would like to replace the unit with a unit with better qualities.
My current box has 4 bolt holes on the unit but is only fastened by 3 bolts in the frame rail ( 1 upper forward & 2 on bottom. I checked the number on the top of the housing and it has 5691676 with a search i could not find this part number. I also checked the number on the front seal which is held in by a ring clip that number was 7800715 which seams to come up as a gmc 96 part?? Can I use my existing pump? What ratio box should i be looking for? What would be a good manufacturer? Thanks for all the help. |

Steering box replacement
Try borgeson.com they carry new stering boxes and can get you a match for most domestic cars..including options for quicker ratios..You probably have a saginaw box and your existing pump and plumbing should be fine provided those pieces are in good condition..
