Question Power steering mount for 55 chevy

I am looking for anyone that has mounted a "605" gear box on a 55-57 Chevy frame and am looking for the way it was mounted to the frame such as bracketry or other helpful mounting tips. Thanks

In Classic Chevy International's Tech manual they describe two brackets, and also sell the bracket. The current one they are selling is basically a 3/8 inch thick rectangular plate theat has an offset bend diagonally through it. On the lower side of the bend there are 3 holes which match the stock steering box bolt locations, but mounts on the outside of the frame rail rather than the inside where the steering box mounts. The diagonal offset bend is to bring the plate to the inside of the inner fender well, and put the inner side of the plate the appropriate distance from the inner frame rail to mount the 605 box. The 605 box then mounts to the two holes in the plate on the upper part of the plate. Since the 605 conversion also utilizes the stock steering box lower section, that is attached to the inner frame in the stock location, the same bolts that attach the plate to the frame rail. Depending where you get your 605 box, it may have the lower portion of the '55-'57 manual steering box welded to the 605 box, and the supplier will likely also have recommendations for brackets they likely sell and are likely similar. Although, I think the above described bracket is an easier way to go, mine was done using the older Classic Chevy International bracket pattern, where the bracket is welded to the top of the frame rail. The bracket consists of a 1/4 inch thick triangular plate which eventually is welded on edge to the top of the frame rail. This has the two holes that the 605 box mounts to through it. Ther are two smaller triangles, which are welded perpendicular to both the triangular plate, and the frame rail, on the inside of the plate. Send me an email if you need a pattern for this weld on bracket, otherwise I think the ones you can buy are likely easier.
