power steering pump pulley play

On a dodge power steering (2000) pump how much play on the pulley (in and out) is acceptable?

If it's too much could it be the cause of a chronic serpentine belt "chirping" issue. Note ther are no leaks.

Probably wont cause belt chirp. It will just find its "center" and run there.
Most likely the belt is the issue or the tensioner isnt holding enough tension. Take a look at the belt alignment across the pulley setup. one of them is bound to be crooked, indicative of a worn bearing, allowing the belt to slide across, or as I said a weak tensioner.
You may need to drop the belt and spin all the pulleys to see if one is loose/sagging from bearing wear/ or possibly trying to freeze up, wich could also cause a noise.
The Belt on my F 150 was 1 year old, was a good brand name belt, and it started making some noise, drove me nuts because it only did it at a certain time(60 mph) which made it tough to nail down,it wasnt real loud, but I listen to noises for a living, it drove me nuts. Put on a new belt and it has been good.

belt chirp

This serpentine belt chirp has been bugging the H outta me for about 2 years.
Pretty sure it's chirp and not slip.
Replaced all idlers checked for pulley play, cleaned all surfaces multiple times, gone through many belts which all look fine , but end up chirping in < 1k miles
The only pulley that has any play in it is really the PS pulley , ~.125 " of in and out. Just purchased a Dayco laser alignment tool , hoping to see what may be just enough out of alignment.
