the pulley on my power steering pump seems to have excess play in it,also belt is squelling when given gas.can just the pulley be replaced or is this a sign shaft is worn.87 chevy caprice 5.7L/350.
How much play, and in which direction? If it's in and out, a little play is fairly normal, there should be no play up and down. Replacing the pulley alone will not fix anything, it will be the shaft that has too much play.
