power window motors

in my 82 grand prix both of my power window motors sound pretty loud and are pretty slow. i pulled the drivers side one out and it was just caked in grease at the bottom. after phoning napa and hearing its $93 for 1 i decided its not worth getting new. is there any way of getting mine to work better?

by taking it apart and cleaning and regreasing the inside will it help any? anything i can do to it?

i have everything to convert to manual windows but i would have holes were the power window switchs were in my door pannels.

Did you try bypassing the switch and seeing how the removed motor operates...if it still runs slow and noisy?

Make sure the window mechanism is free and moves easily. It should not get stiff anywhere.
Also, if the other option is buying a new motor, you can't loose to much by completely cleaning and lubracating the motor and mechanism.
