Power Window Problems

I have an '86 Trans-am and the passenger side window will only go down half way and then it will start making a clicking/grinding sound and stop moving. Any suggestions on what the problem might be. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a broken or bent drive gear or a bent arm in the drive mechanism. You'd need to pull off the upholstery from the door to have a look.

window frame

[size=3]Doc here

Check to be sure your window is square in the window frame.

The moldings over time will wear and shrink causing the window to "Cant" in the frame binding the up motion...

Take some armorall and soak the rubber moldings, This will help expand them back to original size.

As far as the grinding or clicking, something has come loose in the regulator gearing from the massive upward forces required to retract the window...check it for loose or binding gears or warn bushings.
