Have a 34 and a window is going up slow, I am wondering what to look for when I go to replace the mechanism. Meaning is there a brand that is best, better or the bomb , for reliability and good action up/down... Got the troubleshooting all figured out so I am just looking for BRAND information, cause I am sure there is a quality difference out here.

Before you replace what you have check or run a new ground. Most of the time the slow windows in aftermarket apps seem to be ground issues.

Thanks Larry but I know what the problem is and it is not electrical or a dragging window in the channels . Example down is fine up is slow .. like a worn dry worm gear . Anyway I know the unit needs to be replace and replacement window units and there quality is the information I am seeking, thanks again/

I am not sure if Nu-Relics makes mechanisms for a 34, but their products are first rate IMO.

I have installed at least 30 sets of Specialty Power Windows gear type regulators in 34 coupes as well as other type cars and never been dissapointed. IIRC it is part # 2416U.

We used SPW exclusively at Poli-Form. when building the replica 34's.

I never had good luck with the cable type. Window control on rounded window just wasn't there.

Many of those aftermarket regulators use a off the shelf motor..SPW uses a motor from an eighties GM product, last one I bought was from an 85 truck. Cost me 35.00 at the parts store. Have you thought about just replacing that?

Good idea on the motor replacement, did not know that the regulator had serviceable parts, think I will look into that. I was going to try and stay with the same type of regulator, not needing to reinvent the wheel here, just a good repair is all I am after.....
