power windows

Hi All,

I bought a power window kit from auto loc for my nova and I am trying to avoid running the wires through a hole in the side of my door and by the hinges where they will constantly bend and eventually break. Does anybody know a remedy for this problem.

Kinda hard to avoid passing the wires through the door and by the hinges somehow. Take a trip to the wrecker's yard and you might be able to find a factory type rubber boot with grommets that will house your wiring and protect it from the weather etc. It also keeps the wires nicely radiused for a gentle bend, should avoid cracking up the insulation if the kit gives you half decent quality wire.

The factory does it like this and they last through lots of winters. If nothing else, maybe you'll get some ideas.

You didn't look far enough on the Hoffman group web site. Besides the AutoLoc power window kits, they also sell these Keep It Clean door contacts. CLICK HERE
Here is the installation on c-boy's sedan delivery.
There are other places to get these also, like Speedway. CLICK HERE

If you just want the wires to look better, they make braided stainless steel door looms. CLICK HERE

I know plenty of people who have had problems with those door contacts. The main problem is precisely locating them. The second problem is they must be kept perfectly clean. I would go with the suggestion to visit the salvage yard for some OEM type stuff.
