Power Windows

My drivers window works great. Passenger and drivers side rear didn't work buy you could hear motor running. My son put passenger side window down last night and now that one doesn't work either. But again, you hear motor running. Is it bad gears in motor, relay, or off track? Thank you guys in advance.

I don't know exactly what you are working on, but pull the door panels and have a look could be off track or stripped gears. I mean you did say you can hear the motor running correct ? JMO

sorry. 1996 Lincoln Towncar. Yes, you can hear motors running. When rear passengers side was put down there was no sounds of stripping gears. Door panels are tough to get off. But I know I need to check.

In most of the Fords I've taken apart the motor drives a cable mechanism that pulls the window frame up and down. If the cable breaks or a pulley fractures (they are sometimes made of plastic), the motor runs and nothing happens.

Both of my old T-Birds (94-97) and my current Windstar (96)
have gears driven by something kind of like a lovejoy coupler.

There are 3 bean shaped plastic eggs that transmit the power from the motor to the motor gear.

These things disintegrate over time and need to be replaced.
There is a kit that has these little beans in it, but I have never used one.
I just flat replaced the motor.

I heard you can replace the beans with 5/16" or 7/16" nuts (I forget which), but I had already bought motors by then.
