The lift will lift it, depending on how far the arm is out, you have about 1200lbs you say. They have a chart with the ranges with the arm out. You have a little over 1/2 ton, how far will the arm have to be extended to get over your engine , I think you would be safe in using it, as you are just over 1/4 of what the lift can lift. Measure it then check it out on your friends lift.
