Powerglide

Have a t-bucket with 327 chevy and aluminum powerglide. Looks like some homeade linkage. The bellcrank linkage is hooked to the kickdown shaft which rotates the shaft counter clockwise . Is this correct ? At the end of its travel it feel as though it presses on a valve or whatever it uses to actuate the kickdown, however it doesn't kick down into low. It downshifts and upshifts smooth but when you shift it into reverse from park it abruptly screeches the tires ( or you might say it hooks up hard). It however is smooth while backing. When you put it in drive it accelerates and shifts smoothly to high. When you are stopping it downshifts smoothly to low. So my main questions are about the abrupt hook up to reverse and the kickdown. I do not have a book on this tranny as of yet. I'm sure one of my gearhead buddies on this forum can give me a few clues!
Thanks, Ron

Is direct manifold vacuum hooked to the modulator on the tranny?

have you pulled the vacuum hose off the modulator to see if tranny fluid runs out?

If there is a problem with the vacuum mod or the hook up the main line pressure is high

powerglide

direct manifold vacuum is hooked to it. I assumed the modulator was ok, as it downshifts smooth. I will pull the line loose and check it.
Thanks, Ron
