Powerglide Info request.

Greetings, I have a Powerglide Transmission question. I have a 1967 & later 1.76 glide {front pump only type) with a broken bellhousing. I also have a 65 Rear pump model 1.82 gear with destroyed plantary but a nice undamaged case. What modifications do I have to do to use the valve-body, 1.76 planatary gears, governer, drums and shafts in the earlier case and eliminate the rear pump feature. I know the reverse feed hole is different. What else? Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Gonna use it for racing or just street? What type valve body? Brake, manual, stock?

Will be for street use, prefer to have a auto shift valve body. Upgraded converter, about 2000 stall.

Why don't you just use the earlier transmission case, pumps, and valve body, and swap in your sun drive gear/plate and planetary. The later planetary will have the rear pump pin drive hole in it, even though it was no longer used. You also have to use the later input shaft. There's no need to delete the rear pump; in fact you'll be able to push start the car if ever needed that way. Rebuild it, check all the clearances, go. Butch/junior stocker.

Jr Stocker, Thanks for the info. You obviously know PG's. It would be nice to have the push start rear pump feature. I read your other posting about converting to manual shift with the 1/4 copper tubing peice for the 1-2 shift valve. I will make this change as well as the double steel replacement for the wave cushion spring in the direct clutch.
