Powerglide problem

Hi I have some questions about my powerglide in my 1976 nova. First off is it even a powerglide? I'm not sure if they made powerglides in '76. the shift pattern is 1-2-D on the floor console & gauge pod. If it is a powerglide it has a 250 straight 6 up front. Is it possible to use this tranny with a 283 after I change the flexplate and motor mounts? What else do I need to change out?
Thanks.- 58lincoln.

It is not a glide if it is stock it will likely be a th250 not very strong trans but may hold up to a 283. It will bolt right up.A better option would be to find a th 350.

Powerglide problem

Thanks barnym17. I'm on a budget so I think I'll just use the th250 and try not to beat on it.
