Powerglide removal from 68 bird

I have the x-member and all housing bolts removed. I have a jack under the trans and have pulled it back. Here is the problem: The torque converter is still bolted to the flywheel and the trans does not have enough room to slide the shaft out of the TQ converter to completely remove. I tried to separate the TC from the Flywheel but dont have enough room to loosen the bolts.

I am missing something here. What is it?

you have to unbolt the converter..

I've done it that way for decades.

What is in the way of removing the bolts on the converter?

I can get a wrench in there but it wont budge. I have air tools but dont have enough room to use them. I may have to try again.

Thanks for the input. At least I know where to focus my energy.

they may have loctite on them, i dont know if they did it at the factory, but if the trans has been out before they might, i just use a small mapp torch and heat them up, put the wrench on it give it a few whacks with my palm and they come right out

Thanks for the help folks. I had to buy a 6 point socket and a 3/8 non ratcheting wrench for the tight space. All went well. Now I get to fit the t-350 in there...
