If you are going to run it on the street, in my opinion the three speed trans would be a better choice. Drag race only, it's a toss up. The Powerglide can be modified to handle 600HP easily. Either must be matched to a properly sized and stall converter. The powerglide is a bit lighter than a THM 350. |

If you are under 2700 lbs or so with you in it. Then a PG would work fine other than that a TH350 or a TH400 would be the ticket.
Either a TH350 or TH400 would do. Take less PF parts for a 400. But it is your choice. Takes more HP to run a TH400 but not much more. |

powerglide or 350
i would have to agree a 350 will hold up if you have it build rite i know acouple drag racers and they both had powerglides in and made two passes on one and the other made 8 pesses before it blew apart going 80 mph. i would say a 350 you get more gearing for off the line for a jump on the other car.
