What is the advantages and disadvantages with a powerglide while ur racing?

Are they more lowend or more of a screamer ? Also how much would it be to rebuild one ?

Powerglides have an advantage in drag racing, but only in lighter cars.Basically its like a TH350 with no second gear. So if your car is to heavy it needs second gear to keep the momentum going. If it is light enough it will not bog the engine when shifting straight from first to high. I am sure somebody out there can get more technical but these are the basics. Hope this helps. If you give more info such as What car and engine and gear and street weight or gutted somebody can help you better. But basically if you are running a street weight camaro you are better off with the TH350.

its more like a 350 turbo with no 1st gear. it only takes up 18 hp at the flywheel where a 350 turbo takes around 25 to 35 hp,a 400 turbo takes 45 hp. powerglides are more popular in circletrack racing.
