Powerglide Tranyy ????

Hello from Nebraska. I have a 1964 Impala SS. Just recently have had some shift point problems with my 2 spd p-glide tranny. I just put a (new) rebuilt 4GC carb in the car and ever since, I have had shift problems. I have also replaced the vacuum modulator, but to no avail. By the time I reach 12-15 mph, the tranny is already in high gear. Any suggestions? I have also been toying with the idea of putting a 700R4 with overdrive in the car so I can take out of town trips with the club. My struggle is: do I keep the car original as possible, or drive it, or make some changes and have fun with it. Seems street rods and modified cars are bringing more money than original equipment cars anymore. I understand they make a shift kit that will allow me to use my original console and shifter. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

I think they make an adjustable modulator for that tranny. You might try that to get it where you want it. I would change to the overdrive but then I like to drive and am not one to keep every thing orginal. If I had something that was super rare it would be different i suppose.

Thanks 454me....have an adjustable on it, but it didn't do much....in fact I adjusted it so much that it began downshifting too hard. The only thing rare about my car is that it is a factory radio delete, but I cannot find anyone(even Chevrolet) to tell me how 'rare' it is.
