Powerstroke only goes backwards!

Hey guys, My truck is a 01 ford f-250 powerstroke/automatic tranny. The truck has 150,000 hard pulling miles. the truck suddenly stopped going forward, I pulled into the parking space, backed out and tried to go forward but it seemed like it was slipping real bad, i only moved maybe 10 feet, i backed it up and towed it home. The fluid is full and looks fine, it has been flushed every 10,000 My question is the tranny just slipping, Would it stop working that fast? Or is something major broken inside? This is my daily driver, i need help! Thanks yall Jake

Hi,
Well it still backs-up so, I would think a broken
sprag, or clutch pack, needs to come apart.

im not a tranny man , but it sounds like a forward clutch rolled over. definitely needs to be pulled and built or get a reman.

Sounds right to me. Forward clutch or forward sprag. The only gear that doesn't use the forward clutch is reverse.

These also have a bad habit of appearing fine then suddenly not moving. What happens is the ecm keeps jacking up the pressure to compensate for worn parts to stop slippage until it just don't have any more to give then the vehicle is stuck. time for an overhaul.I would highly recomend using synthetic trans fluid after the rebuild. On our transit busses(E450 strokes)we have went from rebuilds at 70 to 80 thou. to them lasting over 170,000 now. With regular fluid the filters and fluid were changed at 20,000 miles now we change it at 100,000 miles .The longevity and lower change rate more than makes up for the cost.

Thanks for yalls help, its out and im looking for a good place to get it built. I have a feelin its gonna be expensive! LOL, dang ford!!! Im not really surprised it gave up, the tranny was not abused ,well, it was used hard. I am definitely going to use synthetic fluid, thanks for the tip.
