My suggestion would be a GM LS1. computer controlled, even using the stock ( reprogramed ) Module, along with the matching transmission, 4-L60E
I put one in a 36 chev ,, also has a narrow engine bay, with NO problems, the motor and tranny came out of a 03 camaro, sent the stock module to Street and perf, they redid it and the wiring loom,, plug and play,,
I think we paid 1500 for the motor and tranny, and about 250 for the S&P stuff, it gets about 15-18 mpg,???? + - and flat hauls ,,
just a thought

BAd Rat....now you are talking! I like the sound of that and of course the price fits right into our objective. I see a lot of crate engines out there for the LS1 but they are running $6K and that is without the tranny.

I also looked at the Ram Jet 350 (part number 12499120) which is pretty cool looking. Built to mimic the style of the early FI engines. But finding one used/rebuilt is almost impossible.

Love to get my hands on an LS1 if I could find it at a similar price.

Tech-

One thing I would like is fuel injection. Is that something I can do with this suggestion. Not sure what a Bendtsen's adapter is but best be sure I will be researching it tonight.
