Hey Fellas, Anyone used the power trax posi system yet? Iwas wondering how much Torque it will hold. I have a 70 chevelle with a 496 that made 600 lbft on the dyno and now that I've spent my yearly allowance on the engine I'm struggling to get it on the road.

use the search feature on this site. the advanced search , you can search "titles only" for powertrax.

About 10 responses come up. many answers there for you

I ran the Powertrax "locker" in my blown Camaro ~750-800HP and I never hurt it. I don't think the "posi" is as strong. The locker does make noise but, it's strong. Use the "track" springs in it when you install it and that will help it lock. It was easy to install but, you must follow the directions and get the clearances right. Really not a problem.

You will want/need aftermarket axles as well to hold that much power/torque if you plan to run sticky tires. If you aren't going to run sticky tires then either the posi or locker should work fine because, you are just going to smoke the tires anyway.

I had a powertrax, in a 79 C-10. No powerhouse by any means, but the only concern I had, was the amount of slap that is allowed on the cross pin. I pulled it hard, a few times, and never noticed any problems.

Last I knew, the truck was a ditch runner, fo the irrigation district. If anyone can tear up a rig, those boys can. Their boss told me that they finally had to replace the motor, but had zero trouble with the locker.
