PPG Omni scratches easily

Not long ago I had a car done in Omni base and Omni clear.
The clear came out well so it was several months before I got around to sanding and buffing it myself. People stop me to compliment the daily beater!

I have noticed that the Omni clear seems to be very soft in that it scratches easily. What would be a better clear for future projects?

I am planning new paint on my good hot rod and plan to use PPG Hot Red and PPG 4000 clear, shot over light gray primer and stark white base coat.
4000 might be too new for good feedback.

The original acrylic enamel lasted well for over 30 years.

I would like to have a paint that has good weather resistence and excellent UV protection..... this is sun country and the car will be outside a lot.

Thanks

re: Which PPG Clear

I asked Barry of SPI which PPG clear to use on my 34 because I respect his opinion and I did not want to switch from PPG to something else. He told me unequivocally PPG Concept DCU2002. He said it is the same formula as his SPI clear. He also said you can't beat it for durability, clarity, and ease of use, and he was right .

BSFmakes some really nice clears but they are pricey anywhere from 69.00 up to 200.00+

I am not enthusiastic about mixing brands of products.

I have been studying this thread
34 Progress
and it looks like PPG 2002 is the clear to use for hardness.

The Omni clear was not excessively hard after 9 months before sanding.

I am not sure of 2002's UV capabilities yet. Anybody know?

Lots of B/C systems have faded after 4-5 years.

I would go with PPG 2000 series, its one of the best clears out there.
