I haven't seen any mention for awhile here of the angst and debate that occured a few months ago when the NSRA went to their '30 year rule.' There were hints of an alternative organization in the winds. Now, it appears to be more than a hint.
Some folks are starting to get something organized called the Vintage Street Rodders of America (VSRA) that will be catering to pre-50s rods only. ((Why pre-50 vs pre-49? I've yet to figure that out, but that choice may still be flexible))
I had a brief but thoughtful conversation with one of the founders some time ago and it appears to be a legitimate attempt to create a new organization much along the lines of what the NSRA used to be. It will admittedly start small, but will hopefully grow to serve many of us.
If you might be interested, I'd recommend you check out
http://pre50streetrodders.com. The organization is just starting to take memberships and get rolling. I hope this weekend to go to Louisville and meet with the founder folk(s) and get a better idea of what to expect. I for one am going ahead, taking the chance and becoming a charter member (woo-hoo!!).
I'll report back after my trip to Louisville.
Meanwhile, how about a quick poll?
