How many billions of dollars in debt/defecit is california short as of the end of the year. I think it was 267 billion IIRC. I am sure they will be looking for a handout.
We dont need anymore Obama action towards any green energy, he has shown us what a farce and a taxpayer rip off that all was allready...remember solyndra? The VOLT. What a laugh.
GM of china should have bailed out GM of america, or GM should have been forced to bankruptcy, at least they would have been liable to keep the retirement funding intact as it was for the employees, after the bailout they renigged or renegotiated where ever and when ever they could to "help" keep the company alive. And the taxpayer pays for that once again.
Any one who buys into the bull-s h i t coming from washington these days is a real sap.
Leaving the country when things get bad, because you have a boat is totally chiken **** in my book. A slap in the face of true americans.
Every generation of my family has done miltitary service, including active duty in WWII, Korea, vietnam and as far back as the american revolution .
Do us all a favor, get on your boat and get out of town now, dont wait.
When you get boarded by Pirates ...YES Pirates ( they do still have them you know) the coast gaurd may not be there for you, if O- bambam gets his hand on that too.
You bleeding heart liberals are really just dont get what it means to
LIVE FREE OR DIE. Later

Randy,

The only reason gold went from $350 to $1600 per once was the lack of confidence of the US dollar. If I intended to retire in the US, enjoying the infrastructure, i.e medicare, roads, food safety, etc, then I would pay my capitol gains without a whimper.

LATECH,

I'm not going cruising for any reason other than that, sailboat cruising. I've done it before and enjoyed that lifestyle so much that I returned to college in my 40's to make a career out of it. After caring for my dad I'll return to cruising. It has nothing to do with the state of the US or politics, I just love seeing the world, taking my home along with me. Why do you feel the way you do? What is your favorite past times? Don't begrudge my love of the sea and learning new cultures.

Solyndra went out of business because China is dumping solar panels for less than cost. My first cruising sailboat I spent $5 per watt for solar, today it is $1 per watt.

No begrudgin here. I Just dont mince words. Seems to me I recall you mentioning a few times you would leave america for the sea when things get ugly here at home. IE: Fiscal cliff- collapse- of the economy, the final turn to socialism that we will undoubtedly be taking. Whatever the cause.
I dont like what I see going down in this country and our leaders are just letting it go...after years and years and generations and generations of horrible mismanagement of the taxpayers dime. I am P O ed about it all. I still love this country and what it stands for. My family knows the price that it costs also, we choose not to be so liberal with our freedom, we wouldnt want it to seem we take it for granted. I think may liberals do.
I have been on plenty of boats, I agree , it is an enjoyable time. I could live on a boat, but I gaurantee i will kiss the good earth under my feet when its the american soil.

Just for the record, I've never promoted leaving the US for any policy or administration that doesn't suit me. Even if Mitt would have been elected, would not of been a reason for leaving. Again, the only reason is my best friends in life and my age, I've met on my first cruising stint. I'm an armchair cruiser now, staying in touch with my friend's travels via the Cruiser's Forum and other social media outlets like Facebook, chomping on the bit till I can join them.

I'm getting the hint I should only talk hot rods here. Most on this forum are in agreement with me that my one-of-a-kind ride is a fine example of a hot rod, but also most find fault with everything I post that isn't about my hot rod.

I get the message.

Right is right and wrong is wrong, just pointing out some things I have observed.
Facts are facts, whether one chooses to accept them is his own choice.

Seems to me you are thick skinned enough to handle most anything here. Your opinion is yours , no one wants to take it from you.
You cant fault a guy for trying to point out you might be wrong thats all.
No one will take away your birthday for that.
No foul here. Just sayin

LATECH,

Just an observation. Things have been quiet here on the "off-topic" part of the forum. All I do is share an email from a friend that got a response from our President on energy policy, and folks come out of the wood work to attack.

OK then, back to on topic, PG related material. For those that don't know my ride, here is Late Night's Top 10....

1) Tips the scales at 1790 lbs
2) SBC 383 built for torque down low, giving up about 120 hp on the high end.
3) HP 320 @ 4050 rpm
4) Torque 516 lb/ft @ 2800
5) TKO 600 Tremec 5 speed 0.64 OD
6) Jag 3.54 IRS
7) 31" rear tires
8) 70 mph @ 1700 rpm
9) Breaks 30 mpg at 65 mph on a level road
10) 10.8 @ 132

Anything in the above you want to bash me on? I do have dyno sheets and 1/4 mile slips. The mpg claims, if your a good automotive tech, should speak for itself. Geared tall, light weight, aerodynamic, manual transmission and an engine built for low rpm operation, is going to equal good mpg.

Come on guys, bash me on my ride. Here I'll help

1) Lousy ground clearance, even with oil pan having 3" of sump removed. (Cheap way to lower CG)
2) Windshield doesn't protect face from bugs
3) Not suitable for weather extremes.
4) No trunk space
5) Not safe on snow.

[QUOTE=deckofficer;1616859]LATECH,

And I merely pointed out that the presidents position and attitude on energy is flawed. And that anyone who thinks he has done a good job needs to look at the facts.
As far as your ride, Do you remember when you joined Hotrodders ?
Go back and read the first couple posts in your very first post.
I was one of the first to greet you here, and that was well before I became a moderator. You will find I was quite cordial towards you.
I rarely... if EVER Talk smack about anybodys ride as it is personal pride that people have and it is inconsiderate. Even if the car is a Total POS like a few in the "Come on man" thread.
I do see you taking it on the chin from some of the other members from time to time but you also seem to hold your own ground pretty well, as you have said in the past in a few of your posts.
I hope I made my point, and I apologize if you had hurt feelings over any of this, I just love my country and it is one thing I dont take lightly.
When I see what is going on in america today ...Lets just say I have to turn off the news at times . MERRY CHRISTMAS by the way.

LATECH,

You have a fine memory, and I appreciated the welcome you gave me. I love my country too, and am disappointed with some of the directions it has taken. People seem to forget why our young country became great among countries with 10 times our history, and that was because of our education system and innovation that is the by-product. To get the US back on track, we need to continue funding for education to reap the benefits that new innovation will bring in commerce. There is no way we can compete world wide with low skill labor. Labor, Conservative, and Liberal parties in all the other countries agree that climate change is real, wouldn't it be nice if US innovation addresses this issue?
