Pressing in control arm bushings

Does anyone know of a shop that will press in some bushings for me in the Katy area ?

I push them in my self.

I take the metal insert out. Grease the bushing up with vaseline. Press it in with a vice. Then grease up the insert and press it in.

Thanks for the tip

That's a great tip. I made a tool yesterday with a 1/2" dia threaded rod. washers and threaded couplings to squeeze the bushings out/in. That Vasaline will definitely make a difference. I'll give it a try.

Getting bushings out

There was a thread on taking bushings out not long ago. The majority (including myself) burn them out. It's great you made a tool. There is a thread "Whatdidja make?" You may want to post a pic.

Come-on guys, you know better than that! Tell the missus that you need a Harbor Freight 12 ton floor press to press in some bushings. Then tell her that a shop will charge more to do that simple job than the press costs and you will then always have a press to do more manly jobs so you are saving her money!

The vasaline did the trick. All bushings are in and I'm ready to proceed.

put them in the freezer for a couple of hours then they will just slide in nicely done this on my trans am .
