Prestige car alarm help?

I just aquired a '93 Toyota pickup that has an alarm with two buttons on the remote. Problem is, 30 seconds after closing the door it locks itself and sets the alarm. The left button disables the alarm for 30 more seconds then it resets. This has led to numerous lockouts and is a general pain in the *****. I always have to keep a spare key in my pocket. The right button does not seem to do anything but light up the led on the remote.
It's a Prestige and I believe it is made by Audiovox. I got no info with the truck so I'm hoping someone out there has had the same problem and can point me in the right direction as to how to reprogram it or disable it permanantly. TIA

if you want to totally disable it, look underneath the dash around the steering column. That is where the "brain" is usually mounted. Should be a little black box, just unplug it and it will be disabled.
