You are correct with the sand/sealer on the exterior. You could step up to 600 if you wetsand. Personally I would seal the door/tailgate jams as well, as I have had issues before with solvents creeping underneath a sealer at the edge of a door before. The hood youll be fine on though.

I would dry sand with 320 da,use a quart of nason ful-base to seal (its way cheaper) and easier to use...sealer evens out the color and fills paint scratches. Dontspend your lifes savings on painting that truck...300.00 tops.single stage solid red ful-thane is what I'd use and you couldnt tell it from BC/CC no one can
