Thats the main reason to use a sealer...too get it all one color ...A lot of the bases out there are very transparent so the slighest variation could cause problems. but like Milo said it depends...

DBM and Milo are very experienced painters and what they may be able to get by with may not be in reach of the rest of us mere mortals. I recommend application of a thinned coat of epoxy or sealer to get the car all one color so the job comes out even in color for the rest of us..
