No cold hard facts/ET's to offer, but after doing some research the Patriot Freedom 225's seem like a head that I would look twice at- if budget was a big concern. 64cc chambers and 2.08" x 1.60" valves. About $900/pair.
They're not CNC'ed, so might not have the flow of the PC heads, but they seem to be assembled w/decent valves. Springs I'm not too sure about, and Jegs, at least, do not seem to sell them bare. They should get the job done on a forced induction 383 cid engine, but the chambers may need opened up some. |

Profiler 210 SBC heads are $1000 flat built with valves and springs. Check their website. The ones for $1500 are the Speier econo ported versions that flow a tad better. The stock profilers will easily flow what the others do with room for future porting.
I have the new Gen3 PC 210 CBC heads with a port match and pocket clean up. They seem very well built, however I have aftermarket valves and springs. I'm happy with the casting quality, no noticeable core shift. Pro comp is getting their act together. That being said, i do plan on upgrading to AFR Race 210s this year. With boost you should be more than fine. Of the three listed, only The Eddy is USA made, something that will be chimed in on in 3... 2... 1... |

I was told the Profilers where closer to 1500.00 when i called them I think maybe there website is outdated on the price part I have seen examples of some great hp made with the procomps when they are ported properly. Just was curious on the others the edelbrocks where tested on a 383 and made 475hp not very impressive any how thanks for the info |

I run a 6-71 on a 355 with Ed. Rpm heads which are even less than what you are asking. It runs just fine, not the fastest or baddest but it runs All the time, Every time.
Since I think you are looking at a budget build and not maximum hp so any of the lower priced aluminum heads will do the job. The job required is to remove heat from the chambers so you can run pump gas and flow a bit. Steel heads require lower compression ratio by about 1 point. I ran into a guy with last year with nearly the exact motor I have but with steel aftermkt heads and he had to run boost retard and reduced total advance and the best pump gas he could get just to run 5 psi boost. I'd get 70 cc chambers for sure on any alum head and polished chambers won't hurt a bit on a blower motor. 3" exhaust with the biggest shortest tubes you can find is mandatory in my book. I think I'd opt for 2.02 valves rather than the 2.08 as the valves are very close together and the seats are pretty thin to handle the heat that can come from the power of the blower. |
