problem removing engine mounts in a '93 Buick Roadmaster

I am in the process of removing the engine (it is the stock Chevy 350 TBI) in a '93 Buick Roadmaster Wagon (it will go in my '57 Chevy Suburban) and I have problems with the engine mounts:
driver side, I cannot find a socket that will fit the nut! I have a wrench on the bolt, but the nut?... On that side, the bolt is at the front, nut at the back.
passenger side, I cannot even see the nut to block it! What is the trick to getting to that one? The nut is at the rear, bolt from the front on that side.
I sure feel silly asking those questions, but what am I missing here?

There was one socket I had not tried, and that was the right one, 11/16 for the bolt, and 16mm for the nut.
It does sound strange, doesn't it!? But it works!
And once I had removed the ABS module, I could get good visibility from the top.
I think I am OK now, thanks for reading
