I've never done this, but it couldn't hurt. I tend to rely on doing thins as best I can and then leave it in the laps of the gods.
The problem I would have is not knowing how much of any element would be normal vs. abnormal. That info might be supplied by the testing facility or somewhere online. The bearing type/materials and the other things like piston alloy, etc. should be known to see if those elements showed up, but the
amounts of these elements in the sample (PPM?) would be the stumbling block for me.
