problum with shifter

i got an 81 camaro and with the stock shifter but i am haveing problems because when i **** park is were it is suppose to be but reverse is in the neutral position and neutral drive so forth i cant figure out why can somebody help me?

when he SHIFTS into park its fine but he shifts to what would normally be neutral it hits reverse......

If its just sloppy I'd say you needa adjust your cable that hooks onto the shift lever on the tranny. I think thats how it works with auto's.?....havent really messed with em.....i could be wrong.

check cable mounts , there is an adjustment on the shifter it's self under the center consul cover

i cant find any adjuster on my shifter under the consule and the cable isnt adjusble any other way the i can see.

adust the shift cable under the center console like he said

its there, pull the entire console off, not just halfway, you'll find it.

it's pretty easy to adjust, put it in park, slide the adjustment all the way back, tighten it, then go through the gears.

then slowly adjust out until it's right.
