Scot,
That is great! Thanks very much for this info. I had a feeling that the car was rare. One other problem that I have is the original motor is not with the car. How do I find out what the size original V8 motor was in the car? Is there anything in the vin number that would tell me that? Thanks again for this info. |

Your VIN should read 166375AXXXXXX in which the X's stand for the production sequence # at the assembly plant. No indication as to size of V8 in the VIN or Cowl Tag, only a build sheet, window sticker, car sales order slip, etc will tell you. Looks like there were 212,027 SS Impala 2 dr coupes produced in '65 and it could've been had with a 220 HP 283, 250 HP 327, 300 HP 327, 325 HP 396, 425 HP 396, 340 HP 409 or a 400 HP 409.

1965 motor info
Scot
Thats not good,I do not have any paper work with this car. For some reason I think this car had 409 motor, its just a feeling.Oh well I am streetrodding it anyway.I just wanted to find all the info on the original car. Back to the trim / vin info, You said the assembly plant was atlanta On the trim plate The vin says 166375L. I thought that the L was los angeles. is it possible they made it in california and and assembled it in atlanta Ga? |
