Proper header & turbo manifold materials ?

ive ben told that the "proper" material for turbo manifolds would be 321 stainless steel, but the local import shop apparently JUST started building manifolds out of 321. None of their previous manifolds have ever been known to crack

at the same time, some of the manifolds that are on the market which have a horrible reputation for cracking are supposedly made of 321

my trustworthy sources tell me that 321 is the proper material to use for turbo manifolds, and that anything after that can be 304, and that headers on N/A engines can be 304 also

someone school me on headers and manifolds
