Proportioning valve hook up

I have a brake kit from Inline Tube. The proportioning valve inlet for the rear doesn't match the line from the rear. Proportioning valve rear inlet is 1/2"x18 and the rear brake line is 3/8"x24 I believe. I would think they would make sure everything fits before they sell it. I rummaged around my spare parts and found something that "May Work" I'm no mechanic and I would like to get as many opinions as I can before I proceed. We all know how important good brakes are. Hopefully the pictures will tell the story. Somehow it just doesn't look right. Is it proper to have a brass to brass coupling ??? Thanks, Jack
