Proportioning Valve Needed??

The 50 Merc project I'm into is riddling me with questions....I put a power brake unit in, however I am still keeping drum brakes all around. Do I need a proportioning valve for any reason???? Any benefits having it with drum brakes? Body is off the frame I would like to do it now while I have the room.
Thanks, Wes

Older cars had larger Drums in front & this equalized the braking force.

There's no benefit to having Drums on the Front of a heavy car.
My Dad had a 64 Olds 98 Drum/Drum, that thing wouldn't stop for crap. One good stop & the shoes were so hot the next stop was scary. When I was about 10 my Mom & I drove it to visit my Great Uncle, engine stalled & the Brakes crapped w/no Vac, I shoved the Trans in Park just before we took a swim in his pond.
