Pro's and Con's ?

Hellow again I've developed a brain fart once again as to witch tranny to put in my pickup. The truck cam with a Saginaw 3-speed with i beleive a 2.85 first gear ratio in it, that was mated with a 3.40 rear gear from the factory behind a (BOAT ANKER INLINE-6). I was considering the saginaw because i was planning on a big bumpy camshaft for my 350sbc, but with gasoline at $2 a gallon i've desided on a smaller cam, plus all the clutch linkages in the truck need replaced. A 700r4 is above budgit at this time but i could do a TH350 with maybee a small stall converter. I understand that an automatic tranny eat's up some amount of horsepower to begin with because of converter slipage. I'm not sure how much stall i would need with the Comp H268 that make's power between 1500-5500 rpm's.

Stock stall will work fine with that cam.

For a little more on takeoff you might bump it up to something like TCI's Saturday Night Special. Stall listed at 1800-2200 RPM.

Keep the saginaw, or get a lock-up converter for the th350 for better gas miliage.
