Exclamation Pulling an ls1 out of a gen 4 camaro

I want to pull my ls1 engine and six speed tranny out of my gen 4 camaro. I heard it was best to drop them both out from the bottom is this true? Can I pull them both from the top or just the engine from the top and the tranny from the bottom?

I thought just the bottom once, but i was at the strip, and a older guys said that they took his engine out of the top. but they had to take every thing off. not sure what everything is, but a lot more then just dropin her down? if your going to do it ur self i would say engine top, but im not sure how u would go about doing that, but trains down. But if it was my with my LT1, i'd just go both down, u know how to do it, and its easy and fast for both

I just got through pulling a LS1 out of a 2002 Z28 and bottom is the way to go. Just four bolts for the tranny crossmember driveshaft bolts and the bolts for the struts and unibody and you don't even run the risk of scratching paint.
