pump seal

I have a leak on the front side of my TH400. I'm guessing its the front pump seal? Tranny fluid is always leaking slowly on the flywheel cover. If it is the front pump seal, is it required to remove the tranny? thanks
Mark

Yup, the trans has to come out! Then pull torque converter, check hub. Pry out old seal. Install new seal. Properly install converter.

I'd be checking the pump hub bushing in the pump before sticking in a new pump seal only.

IF the bushing has walked forward into the seal it's self , NO new seal will stop the leak.
